Ratings Spurs’ substitutes and coach

Tottenham used all five allowable substitutes, although only two players got any real meaningful minutes, although all the minutes were important.

Harry Winks – 7

On for Lucas Moura and reflecting a shape change, Winks was immediately looking forward with the ball upon possession. Clearly very comfortable in the middle of a midfield three/five, Winks helped calm a game that was seemingly getting a bit too much one-sided.

Heung-min Son – 5

Coming on for Steven Bergwijn, Heung-min Son probably had Spurs’ best chance to put the game away. Kane had stepped in and stolen a poor touch and managed a nifty little pass to Son in the box. The South Korean was seemingly away on goal alone but his touch failed him, allowing a defender back into the play and the moment was lost.

Dele Alli – N/A

Came on for Oliver Skipp for just under a quarter-hour and pretty much never saw the ball, as West Ham continued to concentrate on their left, Spurs right.

Emerson Royal – N/A

Came on for the last seven minutes plus injury time on the right for Matt Doherty. Was in the battles with Masuaku and Benrahma but did enough.

Japhet Tanganga – N/A

Came on with Royal in a double change to replace Reguilon on the left. Had two missed passes but did his part defensively.

Coach – Antonio Conte – 7

This was not the same team that faced Liverpool in approach or temperament but they were solid structurally and did enough to win. Showing he is willing to stretch his bench and give people a chance. Is going to have to make some choices moving forward with the squad but is showing the ability to do so well. Was maybe a bit too conservative in the second half but got the job done.
