Tottenham midfield ratings

After an almost remarkable showing in the midfield against Liverpool at the weekend, Tottenham was a bit less controlling in this match, although everyone did their job.

Left wingback – Sergio Reguilon – 7

Wingback, Sergio Reguilon did well against the Hammers getting up and down the left flank. Sergio was active in his 80+ minutes, providing a team-high six crosses. However, the overall accuracy on the crosses was a bit lacking as the Spaniard only connected with another Spurs player on one of the six crosses. Along with Ben Davies, Reguilon kept West Ham quiet on Spurs left.

Central midfield – Oliver Skipp – 6.5

Back in the starting XI in the midfield, like most of his teammates, Oliver Skipp worked hard for his 76 minutes on the pitch. Skipp was not as sharp as we have seen him with a bit of a loose first touch but it never really hurt the team. Skipp battled with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek all day and held his own. Not as progressive in his time as was Winks on the weekend but it was a very different game. Oliver did have one critical defensive interception preventing Soucek from scoring at the back post only moments after Spurs had retaken the lead.

Central midfield – Pierre Hojbjerg – 6.5

One of the biggest moments of the match came courtesy of Pierre Hojbjerg who made the runoff of Bergwijn and then combined with the Dutchman on the one-two pass to assist on Spurs opener. Did lead the team in passing attempts but was not as sharp with the passing as he could be. Seemed to tire late but went the full 90.

Right wingback – Matt Doherty – 7

Getting the start on the right in place of Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty played a solid overall game for Tottenham. Doherty managed to get four crosses in and was unlucky not to get an assist on a good ball to Bergwijn in the box. Doherty had a running battle with Arthur Masuaku all day, with the Irishman getting the best of the Congolese midfielder. Doherty had one big play defensively stretching to intercept and clear a dangerous cross.
