Projected XI for Tottenham Hotspur at Burnley in the Premier League

Spurs projected midfield starters
While it seemed maybe there would be some competition out wide in the midfield at wing-back, the game at Mura left little doubt at who the top wing-backs are in the squad. After that performance in Slovenia, the only real question with the midfield for Conte is Skipp or Winks.
Left wing-back – Sergio Reguilón
Ryan Sessegnon took a few minutes from Sergio Reguilón last weekend then started midweek. However, after a nightmare of 30 minutes that saw him receive two bookings and his walking papers, there is little doubt Reguilón is starting in league play. Reguilón scored his first career Spurs goal last time out – the winner against Leeds – and will be looking to again push forward. A player with the tools to excel in Conte’s system, Reguilón will be one of the keys for Tottenham to win.
Central midfield – Pierre-Emile Højbjerg
Another player who did not bathe himself in glory midweek was Pierre Højbjerg. His cameo was full of bad passes and poor touches. Højbjerg is a player who really needed to have the night off as he has played so much for club and country since coming over from Southampton two summers ago. He may not have the all-around game Conte really wants but there is no questioning the desire, heart, and effort from Højbjerg which is something this team desperately needs.
Central midfield – Harry Winks
This was a tough decision in our lineup and imagine it will also be a tough call for Conte. Winks was poor early last weekend but truly stepped up to help Spurs top Leeds. Skipp had been starting but was out on suspension and then did not exactly play well midweek in Europe. Bad passes and poor control plagued Skippy on a tough night. It is not that Skipp has lost Conte’s trust but Winks has earned it and gets the call.
Right wing-back – Emerson Royal
Maybe outside of Harry Kane, the one name we know will be on the sheet in league play is Emerson Royal. The Brazilian wide-man has played all but 45 minutes in the league since coming over from Barcelona, although Spurs’ results have not been great since then, it is hardly Royal’s fault. He was toasted last week by Jack Harrison on the goal against Leeds but overall has shown to be as good in defence as he is pushing forward. With time under Conte, Royal should shine.
