Conte’s alternative starting 11

It might be wishful thinking, but hopefully Hojberg suffered a minor dead leg and is passed fit. If that’s the case, Lo Celso will miss out. Conte probably won’t play Ndombele and Lo Celso in the same starting team. Ndombele has trained with Conte for the past fortnight and will be gagging for a chance to prove himself. For that reason, Conte will select the inconsistent Frenchman in an advanced role that encourages the use of his creative nous.

Ben Davies enjoyed a strong outing against Everton and will retain his spot on the left side of a back three, while Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal are near certainties in their preferred wing-back roles.

Sonny, Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier and Kane are the only other guaranteed starters for the all-important clash against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
