Tottenham Hotspur tried to use an entirely second-team XI in Europe last week and paid the price with a  road loss, do not expect a similar approach this week in the Carabao Cup. Instead, we should expect some rotation in the places that Spurs can rotate and familiar faces in areas where the depth is not as great – or non-existent. Here is our projected XI for Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

Yes, Harry Kane is leading the Tottenham Line

The reality of the situation is there are not many alternatives for who can play up top for Tottenham at the moment. While Dane Scarlett gave a decent effort against Vitesse but was overpowered.

Scarlett actually played for the Developmental Squad on Tuesday in the Checktrade Cup, scoring a penalty but missing a sitter. Given those minutes it is highly unlikely Scarlett is even on the bench, leaving little doubt – or cover – for Harry Kane.

Kane has scored outside of the Premier League making the idea of him playing in the Carabao Cup all the more enticing to help get Spurs talisman going again. Kane is in London until at least January and Tottenham need to get something from him, hopefully, Wednesday is one of those times.
