Defence

Hugo Lloris 6/10

There wasn’t anything the Frenchman could do about Antonio’s winner. Hugo Lloris made one decent save in the first half on a Fornals volley but was otherwise untested.

Emerson Royal 4/10

After a few promising performances, Emerson Royal was brought back to reality in a match he struggled desperately in. Pablo Fornals had his way with Tottenham’s right back, who has struggled to adapt to the unerringly high level of the Premier League. He’ll need more time, though hopefully he finds consistency soon, as today’s performance against the Hammers fell far below expectations.

Eric Dier 6/10

Eric Dier actually enjoyed a pretty stable outing in the middle of Spurs’ defence. He didn’t make any calamitous mistakes and marshalled the backline confidently. West Ham mustered four shots on target, most of which didn’t trouble Lloris.

Christian Romero 6.5/10

Christian Romero made a few offensive forays and was pretty stable at the back. He misjudged his position on a few occasions and was bounced off the ball by Antonio in the first half, though even the strongest centre backs have difficulty dealing with the English striker’s pronounced strength.

Sergio Reguilon 5/10

One of the few bright spots going forward, the Spaniard set Harry Kane up on a platter in the first half, only to see Spurs’ talisman’s header parried over by Łukasz Fabiański. Sergio was beaten at the back post in the first half by a well timed jump by Tomas Soucek, whose resultant header narrowly missed. However, all of Sergio’s great work was undone when he tried to beat a man walking out of the back. He turned the ball over, which led to a near miss, followed by the corner that led to Antonio’s winner.
