Tottenham projected Midfield

It was the midfield more than anywhere else that Spurs lost their game on Thursday night in the Netherlands. No matter who is playing in the midfield, Tottenham needs more than what they saw on Thursday to topple West Ham, whose strength is very much in the middle of the park with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

Tanguy Ndombele – Attacking midfield

A full quarter into the season and it looks like Tanguy Ndombele is the top creative midfielder at the club. Against Newcastle, Ndombele was excellent scoring and providing a constant source for possession in the attacking half. If Ndombele can start to connect on just a few more passes going forward, he can be a real beast for opponents.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjberg – Holding midfielder

Pierre Hojbjerg is likely going to be one of the two holding midfielders for Tottenham on Sunday. Also, the more likely of the two to push forward, Hojbjerg has been in more of a box-to-box role this season and he is growing with the opportunities. Spurs are going to need all of his defensive ability and his attacking punch against a good Hammers side.

Oliver Skipp – Defensive midfielder

Oliver Skipp is nearly written in pen on the teamsheet at this point in the season. Skipp clear knows his role and fully embraces it. Skipp has the industry and tenacity to become a really good defensive midfielder and seems to be a real lynchpin in the current Spurs team.
