Spurs Substitute and Coach Rating

Having conceded a goal, cutting the deficit to just 1, Nuno Espirito Santo and company wasted little time bringing in the big guns to finish off the win. While several of these lads likely did not want to play, there is no doubting the impact the front-line attackers had on the match.

Heung-Min Son – 7

Heung-Min Son was clearly a level above the tired opposition from the moment he walked on the pitch. Unlucky not to have connected with Kane for a goal in the first minute on the field, did have a nice assist to Kane for Spurs 4th on the night.

Harry Kane – 8

Harry Kane was just awesome in his 30 minutes on the pitch. Almost in on goal immediately, Kane found the ball in the box and was lethal from there. With terrific passes and expert runs on all three goals, it looked more like a training ground for Harry Kane than a real match, but all three count and he took home the game ball with a 30-minute hat-trick.

Lucas Moura – 6.5

Lucas Moura was okay in his time on the pitch. Moura did have an excellent ball to Harry Kane for Spurs’ third goal to help get Kane going and bury Mura. It was the kind of pass Dane Scarlett would have loved to have had during his hour on the pitch and only took Moura a few touches to produce.

Pierre Hojbjerg – N/A

Pierre Hojbjerg came on after Oliver Skipp was booked with just over 20 minutes left in the match. It was Skipp’s second booking in as many matches and frankly was his second questionable yellow in as many games as the young midfielder likely feels hard done. Hojbjerg did what Hojbjerg does and worked to get on the ball managing 40 touches in 21 minutes but none were really impactful.

Emerson Royal – N/A

Emerson Royal came on for Reguilon over the last 10 minutes or so of the game. Showing his versatility playing on the left, Royal saw little action in the closing minutes of the match.

Coach Nuno Espirito Santo – 7

Nuno Santo got the result that the team needed and he did well to get a little bit of youth on the pitch. His quick trigger to get his superstars involved as the game seemingly got close shows just the kind of pressure Nuno feels to win. That said, Scarlett getting an hour, Spurs winning big, and Kane with a hat-trick are all very positive occurrences for Tottenham and you can credit Santo for that. While beating a lesser opponent you are supposed to beat does not excuse any of the losses it at least eases things up just a bit on the gaffer.
