Player ratings from Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 win over MS Mura

Rating Tottenham Defenders
Tottenham was better defensively than they have been, although they still failed to bring home the clean sheet. Under little pressure for most of the evening, the defense was solid, except for one big moment of magic for Mura.
Sergio Reguilon – 7.5
Sergio Reguilon was certainly the most attacking defender on the evening, managing two shots and almost a third as he was just beaten to the ball by Obradovic. His first shot was just over and his second was unfortunately blocked aside. Most important was the relationship building between Reguilon and Bryan who are Tottenham’s future on the left. Defending okay but beaten on a header early which could have made a different evening.
Joe Rodon – 7
Joe Rodon was back in the side after not featuring for a couple of matches. Rodon was solid most of the evening, fighting in the air and on the ground. Big and fast, Rodon is difficult to get around and has the ability to play the ball out with both feet. Rodon was sloppy with some passes that went astray but never really troubled defensively. Maybe could have cleared the corner that led to the goal further, maybe but solid overall.
Cristian Romero – 7.5
Cristian Romero was all over the pitch as a defender for Tottenham on the evening. Often found far wide on the right providing coverage for Matt Doherty who was up the pitch, Romero is amazingly calm and collected on the ball. Similar to Tanguy Ndombele or even Mousa Dembele, Romero seems quite adept at controlling and then shielding the ball away from the opposition. With long limbs and deft touch, Romero shows more promise with each appearance and should never have been left out of the Arsenal game.
Matt Doherty – 6
Matt Doherty was probably the weakest link on the pitch for Tottenham. Doherty seems incapable or unwilling to really play fullback as he stays up the pitch leaving the corner of the pitch exposed. Given Romero’s ability to cover the space and Mura’s lack of ambition most of the evening this was not a problem, however, as we have seen over the last several seasons at Tottenham, simply conceding the space behind the right fullback is not a recipe for success.
Pierluigi Gollini – 6.5
Pierluigi Gollini was a lonely man for most of the evening. In the first half, there was really only one shot, which went wide of the target but was dangerous. Gollini did claim a free-kick well and looked to restart play as soon as possible to keep Spurs on the front foot. Was completely stone-footed on the goal but so would have been 99.9% of keepers in the situation as Ziga Kous caught the ball just right and you have to tip your cap to him. Outside of that Gollini did not have a lot to do ultimately making no saves on the evening.
