Tanguy Ndombele’s addition was the big news

Learning that Tanguy Ndombele was named to the team was not that surprising, he is also in the Premier League squad and this is not Danny Rose in the final year of his deal. Rather if Tottenham Hotspur is to compete on as many fronts as possible this season and maybe even win a trophy, the Spurs need to get something from Ndombele.

The Frenchman’s talent is undeniable and he showed he was willing to work under Jose Mourinho, although one has to imagine that he felt upset when Ryan Mason completely snubbed him. Now with Aurier and Sissoko both gone – reportedly his two best mates in the team – Ndombele has a chance to start anew with the group.

Step one in the Ndombele revival is the same place that many good Tottenham stories start in Europe. Further with Lo Celso’s availability seemingly in question, Ndombele is needed more than ever.

B-List of opportunities for Tottenham youth ahead?

The full A-list of 25 players is accompanied by a B-list of a dozen players. According to UEFA, to qualify for the B-list a player has to first be born after 1 January 2000 – limiting the number of potential players right there and second, must have two years of uninterrupted time at a club after their 15th birthday. The two years become three years if a player had a loan in the same association.

Notably, the B-list includes Dane Scarlett and Romaine Mundle, the only two forwards listed other than Harry Kane. Unfortunately for Alfie Devine, like Paskotski he has not been at Spurs long enough to qualify for the B-list.

The Craig twins, Nile John, and Premier League 2 Player of the Month candidate Dilan Markanday all made the team as well. Notably from the senior side, Oliver Skipp was included on the B list.

Ultimately, how many any of the B-list players, other than Skipp and likely Scarlett, actually play will depend on a lot of factors. However, just like adding Bryan Gil and Cristian Romero into the opening day squad, it is all about the experience. How long that experience lasts and just how far it runs we will all see.
