Tottenham to play Chelsea, Arsenal in friendlies to support mental health

Tottenham is set to play Chelsea and Arsenal in pre-season friendlies as a curtain raiser to the 2021-2022 campaign, all in support of mental health. 

Funds raised from the matches will be split between the Mind Series and the respective club foundations. Each of the recipient foundations deliver projects in support of mental health and overall wellbeing, both in the UK and overseas.

Mind is the UK’s leading mental health charity, which will look to utilize Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham’s global clout to increase awareness about mental health. Covid-19 has caused a dramatic and worrying surge in mental health issues across the globe, and this pre-season tournament will a shed a light on those issues while garnering funds for the invaluable cause.

According to Chelseafc.com, Mind recently conducted a survey in which it found two out of three young people and three of five in the older demographic reported their mental health worsening due to the pandemic.

The schedule of the pre-season friendlies is as follows:

Arsenal vs Chelsea — Sunday, August 1 — 3pm kickoff from the Emirates

Chelsea vs Tottenham — Wednesday, Aug. 4 — 7:45 pm kickoff from Stamford Bridge

Tottenham vs Arsenal — Sunday, Aug. 8 — 2pm kickoff from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

This pre-season mini tournament helps put the current state of the world into perspective, shedding light on the issues affecting society in all corners of the globe. It’s refreshing to see the three bitter rivals come together in support of such an important cause.
