City’s forthcoming offer could spell beginning of end for Kane at Tottenham
By Gary Pearson
The Daily Star reported recently that Manchester City is set to offer Tottenham £100 million in an attempt to poach Harry Kane.
Just like how most people believe that North Macedonia wouldn’t make it out of Group C in Euro 2020, the lion’s share of the population knew City would swoop in and make an official offer for Kane. Well it seems that forgone conclusion is on the verge of coming to fruition.
While £100 million is a huge wad of cash, it won’t be enough for Daniel Levy to sell his most prized asset. It will represent City’s opening bid, and you can expect larger subsequent offers from the cash-rich Citizens once Levy rejects their initial offer.
Only Levy and those in his close cohort know what it will take to relinquish control of Kane and let him flee the coup. Will it be £125 million or £150 million? Some speculate it will cost even more to compel Levy into selling.
We’ll know more once City officially puts forth their opening bid, but expect Pep Guardiola’s side to heap the pressure on Levy in the coming weeks.
Kane’s performances in Euro 2020 have suffered dreadfully. Whether his successive subpar performances are due to widespread transfer speculation or a variety of other factors, he is clearly struggling to find the form we’ve all come to expect.
City’s opening offer could spell the beginning of the end for Kane at Tottenham. But that depends on how high City are willing to bid for the talisman in their crosshairs. If they eclipse £150 million, there’s a strong likelihood that Kane will be donning the City blue come August.
Either way, it’s hard at this point to conceive of a happy ending where Kane and Tottenham are concerned, unless of course you are Daniel Levy, who will probably have a different perception once his coffer is filled to the tune of about £150 million.
