Not so fast, Tottenham Hotspur still has not taken step one
By Aaron Coe
Such is the state of Tottenham Hotspur right now that rumors about a coach being hired by a director who is rumored to be hired is big news.
As news of yet another potential new manager spreads across the internet, Tottenham fans are already in an uproar. The interesting part about the latest manager story is that Spurs have not yet even officially hired the man who is supposedly hiring the rumoured new manager.
What is important to remember is to keep a level head and understand Tottenham has not even taken step one and officially hired a new director of football, despite what might be tweeted.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves Tottenham fans
The most recent news is that Tottenham Hotspur is about to name Paulo Fonseca as the new manager.
Of course, as Ali went on to predict, fans are not responding well to the news.
Whether Levy is actively trying to make Spurs worse is debatable. What is not debatable is that if Paulo Fonseca is hired it is going to feel like being on the short end of a wife swap, as Jose Mourinho heads to Roma.
The kicker to this rumor is, of course, it is still a rumor, one that comes from yet another rumor.
If you listen to Football London and Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham signed Fabio Paratici having recently departed from Juventus back on Sunday. However, it is now Thursday and we have not heard a word from the club regarding Paratici, yet we are to believe he is on the cusp of hiring Spurs’ next manager.
The point is we have not really heard anything yet from the club on the new coach or on the director of football, or on anything at all for that matter. The longer that silence persists the more tone deaf the leadership of Tottenham shows itself to be.
Ultimately it is difficult to remain calm and relaxed as a fan as you watch your club struggle like a turtle on its back that cannot rollover. That said, we need to try and remain calm, as the club has to eventually break its silence. Hopefully when they do it won’t be announcing Fonseca as the new manager.
