2. Conte and Levy were sure to end up on a collision course

Two stubborn and hardheaded men like Conte and Daniel Levy were sure to end up on a collision course. And it may not have taken long for the two alphas to crash head on, with neither one willing to back down or appease the other. Conte is renowned for his defiant, headstrong personality. And Levy isn’t one to sit idly by while his manager goes off script with his oft fierce, forceful and bellicose public dialogue.

Conte is a man who knows what he wants, a quality that has gotten him to where he is in life. But when he doesn’t gel or becomes frustrated with an ownership group. there is only one eventual outcome.

It’s part of the reason why Daniel Levy probably didn’t take the plunge and hire the commanding Italian. Conte’s stipulations to take the Tottenham job were reflective of the hardliner personality he embodies. After an unknown period of time, he would have grown tired of Levy’s meddling and it probably wouldn’t have ended well.
