Nuno Espirito Santo is set to leave Wolves after the season, opening the door for Tottenham to pounce on the master tactician.

His imminent departure from Wolves has come as surprise to many. Out of the blue and on reportedly leaving on “amicable” terms, the Portuguese gaffer wouldn’t cost Spurs anything untoward financially and is a well suited candidate to take the reins at Tottenham Hotspur.

Patient, calm, composed and experienced, Nuno Espirito Santo has lifted Wolves to comparatively eminent heights since taking charge of the club in 2017.

He spearheaded a famous revival for Wolves, securing their Premier League status after being promoted in his first year in charge. He then inspired Wolves on to successive seventh place finishes in the top flight, an extraordinary accomplishment for the Portuguese maestro. He’s as astute tactically as he is a proficient motivator.

While Spurs supporters will be cautious, even hesitant, at the prospect of signing another Portuguese manager after Jose’s debacle, Nuno Espirito Santo is exactly the type of character needed for the behemoth challenge a comprehensive rebuild embodies.

The Athletic reports that Spurs are not interested in landing Nuno’s services, while Football.london takes a wildly different approach, pegging him as the new frontrunner to secure the role. I’m with Football.london on this one, as Espirito Santo, in a particularly complex, difficult and financially tight environment, thrived, showcasing his aptitude and appetite for the most demanding managerial projects.

This development is breaking and fluid, so things can change in the blink of an eye. However, Tottenham should approach Nuno quickly and make their intentions felt. Because a manager of his outstanding skillset won’t be available for too long.

He’ll be snapped up faster than the last pizza slice in the box. And Spurs don’t want to miss out on this golden opportunity. Let the rebuild under Nuno begin.
