Tottenham player ratings in 2-1 loss to Aston Villa

Midfield
Pierre Hojberg 4/10
Pierre looked exhausted today. He has played too much football this season and it showed. Way off the pace and unable to get near Villa’s midfield.
Harry Winks 4/10
It wasn’t nearly good enough from Harry Winks, who, like many of his teammates, conceded possession in terrible areas. One of his giveaways almost led to a Villa goal on the cusp of halftime. Had Villa been more clinical, they surely would have gone up two going into the break.
Son Heung-min 4.5/10
Son wasn’t near his best and only showed glimpses of producing anything resembling a threat.
Steven Bergwijn 7.5/10
Steven Bergwijn, after a long layoff from first team proceedings, enjoyed an excellent evening, highlighted by a magnificent goal. He hadn’t scored in 41 games, his last coming in June 2020 against Manchester United. You wouldn’t have known it by the way he smashed a drive into the top netting after snatching back possession and holding off two defenders. He threatened throughout and could have had more. Great to see him get on the scoresheet again.
