Three takeaways from Tottenham win over Wolves on Sunday

Dele Alli can still impact a match
When Dele Alli was staring a few years ago for Tottenham a big part of his impact was his goal scoring. As Dele’s goals have dried up, so too have his minutes. However, despite not scoring or getting an assist on Sunday, Dele Alli certainly impacted the game in a big way.
Dele Alli was terrific in serving as the point on the press. Rather than Kane putting on pressure from the top, Tottenham used a lot more Dele coming from different angles. Almost like a linebacker blitzing a quarterback, Dele Alli was looking to pressure the ball all over the pitch.
That pressure led to several breaks forward and kept Spurs on the front foot. On top of this defense, we saw Dele willing to take on opponents getting a couple of classic nutmegs on the day. Dele’s willingness to dribble at opponents creates opportunities and puts pressure on the opposition’s defense.
Yes, an assist and a goal would have been nice for Alli but playing hard for over 80 minutes was another step in the Dele Alli comeback tour. Based on his play Sunday the only thing Dele is now missing is that production. Speaking of production our third takeaway was full of production on Sunday.
