Tottenham Hotspur player ratings from Draw at Everton
By Aaron Coe
Tottenham Hotspur really needed three points from their visit to Goodison Park against Everton. Tottenham was game for the match at times and at other times looked like they might get blown away. In the end, the result was a level match and a 2-2 finish. A point is better than none, but likely the top four is done.
Tottenham Top Play – Return of the Cross
In looking into the numbers to help understand why the Tottenham attack has not been as potent as it should be at times this season, we uncovered a shocking drop in crosses by the team. Tottenham did not turn into Liverpool overnight and send in 30 crosses but Spurs did manage 10 with two accurate enough to score.
In reality, neither cross that led to a goal was great, but a fortunate bounce with each left the ball right with Harry Kane. The Tottenham talisman knew what to do and scored two nice volleys, one with each foot. In between those two, goals by Harry Kane was a lot of sloppy play and enough chances for Everton to score two goals deprive Tottenham of two very needed points.
