Substitute and Coach Rating

Well, there were substitutes but it is hard to say any of them impacted the match. Sissoko brings effort and little else. Lamela ran around and Bale well, he played. Ultimately, this looks like a team that has either quit on their manager or has simply not been worked into good enough physical shape by their manager to compete for 90 minutes at the highest level, which is just sad.

Moussa Sissoko – 3.5

Sissoko gets half a rating point for each of the passes to be completed in the second half, seven. If one of your two holding midfielders is only going to complete seven passes in 30 minutes you might as well have a cone out there. Came on to defend but didn’t run with the midfielders breaking through from United – nor did any other Spurs midfielder. 14 touches let us know how little he really did.

Erik Lamela – 4

Erik Lamela came on only a minute before United scored the winner. However, the game had already been decided before then as Spurs simply lacked the will United did. Lamela showed some effort as he was active, particularly in comparison to Sissoko, as Lamela managed 13 touches in his 12 minutes on the pitch. Those touches did not produce any real magic as Lamela only connected on six of his 10 passing attempts.

José Mourinho – 2

José Mourinho has either lost this team or simply has not worked them hard enough where a player can play hard for 90 full minutes. Either way, Tottenham is not good enough and shows no signs of getting there under Mourinho. Spurs are not in a death spiral but is treading water good enough for any fan? Probably not. Hard to say if Mourinho makes it to the Carabao Cup or not at this point but then again who would want to take over this team?
