Lineup we hope to see from Tottenham on Sunday v Newcastle
By Aaron Coe
Spurs Strikers
Tottenham has two strikers in this formation with Harry Kane doing Harry Kane things playing as a nine, a false nine, and a number 10, all while Carlos Vinicius stays up top as the target man for everyone else. As we noted in a piece on having two strikers, Vinicius and Kane together simply means more opportunities for the team.
Harry Kane – Striker
Harry Kane is of course starting and doing what he has been doing all season. In fact, Kane is not being asked to do really anything differently in this set-up. Well, maybe he would be doing a bit less, as there would be another target, but in the 3-2-3-2, Kane is both a playmaker and a finisher as he has been all season. This is just a way to give him more options and hopefully more service.
Carlos Vinicius – Striker
The Brazilian finally got to start with Kane against Aston Villa and there were moments where you can see this can really work. Vinicius is not going to make a ton of runs off Kane, but he is going to provide a consistent target in the front which will put pressure on opposing defenses. Every hack he takes is one less Kane takes. Vinicius has two months to show Tottenham or someone else, he belongs in the big time next season.
This is not the line-up we expect or even project, just hope to see Sunday. What do you think, who do you want to see start Sunday and why?
