Tottenham Substitutes and Coach Ratings

Tottenham had a different kind of line-up and then had several substitutions, one forced and two not so forced.

Ben Davies – 7

Davies came on at 57 minutes for an injured Sergio Reguilón. Ben Davies did not necessarily do anything spectacular during his time on the pitch, but Tottenham seemed to dominate much of the match from the left side after his introduction. Not nearly the dynamic play Reguilon is but is more predictable for his teammates. Needs to work on his crossing as they either did not come or were not of the quality required.

Steven Bergwijn – 6

The Dutchman came on for Lo Celso just before the penalty and did not bring the end product we were all looking for. Bergwijn did manage to get into the box a couple of times but lacked the quality to finish the opportunity. Maybe the biggest contribution from Steven is his willingness to stay on the touchline – on either side of the pitch – providing the width necessary to create space centrally.

Moussa Sissoko – N/A

Brought on with just nine minutes left for Tanguy Ndombele, the one thing that can certainly be said for Moussa is that he hustled a lot more than he did on Thursday. Sissoko was culpable for at least two of the goals against but was back to his running and hustling self in his brief cameo Sunday.

Coach José Mourinho – 6

Although it is unclear what the formation was, which is ultimately irrelevant,  José Mourinho got enough out of his team on Sunday. Clearly still agitated in the dugout from the losses of late, Mourinho only occasionally got out of his seat and did not seem to celebrate either goal. While none of his substitutes were great, all provided the positioning and effort Tottenham needed. How he can bring this team together or not over the next month may define his term at the club.
