Tottenham Striker Ratings

Tottenham played with two out-and-out strikers from the start for the first time in forever. Rather than just Harry Kane up-top, Carlos Vinicius got just his second Premier League start while on loan from Benfica. Given that both players scored and Spurs won it seems things worked overall and each had their part to play in that happening.

Harry Kane – 7.5

Harry Kane’s most visible contribution on the evening was winning and then converting a second-half penalty kick, which made the score the 0-2 final it would become. Outside of the goal, the biggest contribution from Kane was how he was able to help lead the line in tandem with Carlos Vinicius and the other Tottenham attackers. Kane was found in his normal up-top position, he dropped deep as he has been known to do, and for a bit, he even took up the furthest left of the attacking positions for the team. Kane often leads by example, Sunday night was a good example.

Carlos Vinicius – 7

Carlos Vinicius had an up-and-down match, which is to be expected in someone’s second Premier League start. Vinicius provided an additional target up top for Tottenham which makes longer balls into the attack more of an option. On the first goal, it was a long ball over the top to Vinicius, which the Brazilian did not win which led to Spurs scoring. Lucas Moura won the second, he did a one-two with Harry Kane and then fed to Carlos for the tap-in and his first Premier League goal. Vinicius was hungry defensively and his size is problematic for defenders under pressure. Too many fouls and too many loose touches, but the goal and his time were big.
