Tottenham Starting Attack

Tottenham will see some rotation from the four that started in the first match against Dinamo. Son will almost certainly be out of the line-up and it seems unlikely – although not out of the realm of possibility – for Harry Kane to start. Instead, the talisman should be on the bench, to bring in only in case of emergency, the same as Gareth Bale.

Steven Bergwijn – Left Wing

The Dutchman was left out of the Sunday squad for Arsenal entirely and the team paid for it. While Erik Lamela played very well and scored a wondergoal, Tottenham lacked that presence over-the-top of the defense that Son provides, as can Bergwijn. Steven Bergwijn has yet to really get going this season, which seems unbelievable given he played over 1600 minutes this season. Six assists are just not enough return and maybe Bergwijn can find his rhythm here.

Carlos Vinicius – Striker

This may be the last real opportunity – barring a Harry Kane injury – to start Carlos Vinicius and give him 90 minutes of football. The idea is that Vinicius can lead the line and help score one or two to put the game out of reach. A brace would bring the Brazilian level with Kane for the Tottenham European lead, so he has done his part.

Erik Lamela – Right Wing

Erik Lamela was a difference-maker in more ways than one on Sunday against Arsenal. It truly is a shame that his rabona wonder goal will not be remembered as part of a rousing road win for Tottenham. Instead, we are all likely to remember the first time Erik Lamela got sent off for Spurs. Given he cannot play against Villa and Bale needs the rest, Lamela should get at least an hour out on the right flank.
