Three Arsenal weaknesses Tottenham need to exploit
By Gary Pearson
David Luiz is as enigmatic as they come. A talented ball-playing centre back, Luiz can dazzle from dead-ball situations and has the ability to pick out teammates from another area code. But his defensive vulnerabilities are repeatedly on show.
The 33-year-old has slowed dramatically in the last few years, an achilles heel Kane, Lucas Moura, Sonny and Gareth Bale are well aware of. He also has a propensity to make erratic, nonsensical decisions and is always prone to conceding a penalty or get sent off for a rush of blood to the head.
Spurs can unnerve the aging Brazilian by playing the ball quickly and incisively, keeping Luiz on the back foot. Mixing it up by having Kane drop deep should be enough to rattle Luiz, who has already cost his side numerous points this season. The Wolves match, where he got sent off after conceding a penalty, is a prime example of his penchant for hair-brained calamities.
Luiz did play against Olympiacos but there’s no reason to think he won’t start against Spurs. Hopefully, for Tottenham’s sake, he gets the nod.
