Three positions Tottenham need to strengthen to pose title challenge

1. Centre Back

While Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld have been playing better as a tandem of late, there is no doubt that Spurs need a bonafide elite marshal to take them to the next level.

Eric Dier is struggling mightily, Toby is in the twilight of his career while we never know what to expect when Sanchez gets the nod. The latter has the raw ability to be one or the world’s best, but is too often found out of position or, maybe even worse, acting impetuously, with too much emotion. Of course experience will help allay those issues, but Tottenham still need an top centre back to cause the likes of City any concern.

There are rumours that Brighton’s Ben White is in Tottenham’s crosshairs. He is more than capable of taking Tottenham to eminent heights, but would not be able to step in immediately and lead the rearguard. The club needs a wily centre back who is still in his prime but is either at, or nearing, the height of his dominance.
