Second Half

A tendency to start the second half on the back foot reared its ugly head again, as Fulham dictated possession and created all the chances. Off a Fulham free kick, Hugo Lloris bailed out his side with an excellent save from a Joachim Andersen header.

The home side pushed the tempo, frustrating the away side, who struggled to keep hold of the ball. VAR came to Tottenham’s rescue in the 62nd minute. Disallowing Fulham’s goal for hand ball, Davinson Sanchez can consider himself incredibly lucky. The Colombian thudded a terrible clearance straight against Loftus-Cheek’s hand. Sanchez was provided clemency due to dumb luck, as his abysmal clearing attempt deserved to be punished. It was the right call by the letter of the law, albeit an extremely harsh one. Which we can all be grateful for.

Jose Mourinho was forced into double change to try and interrupt Fulham’s astounding dominance. Bale and Dele were dragged off in favour of Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko, the latter of whom to disjoint Fulham’s cohesive attack.

Under the cosh for most of the second half, Tottenham will be thankful to leave Craven Cottage with all three points. No matter how they got the job done, Spurs can take solace in winning consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since November.

And Jose’s side held onto a one-goal lead, something they’ve struggled mightily with this season. The away side can thank Lloris’ heroics and VAR for that.
