2. Davinson Sanchez

Davinson Sanchez, in 2017, signed for a club record breaking fee of £42 million. The then 21-year-old came to Tottenham with the potential of being the world’s best centre back. Blessed with unrivalled athleticism, speed and agility, Sanchez was the club’s most exciting signing in years.

But over time the gleam has waned considerably, so much so that Tottenham supporters aren’t sure if he has a future at the top level. Like Lloris, he shows glimpses of excellency. But, overall, the Colombian is entirely too erratic. You never know what to expect when he plays, a damning characteristic for a player in a role where steadiness, reliability and calmness takes precedence.

Sanchez, like a guitarist tugging his strings at a rampant rate, gets pulled all over the pitch. He is truly his own worst enemy. Sanchez still has the capacity to improve and live up to his astronomical transfer fee, but I feel he is running out of opportunities. Even at 24, there are only so many chances afforded to you at a club of Tottenham’s stature.

Though he can still turn it around and fulfil his once-vast potential, I feel it is now or never for Sanchez in North London. It would be a shame to see him go elsewhere and thrive, so the club should be completely sure he is a lost cause before his Spurs exodus. I had extremely high hopes for Sanchez, and hopefully he can come of age, mature and stop being so naive. Because at 24 years old, your time to show naivety and ignorance has long since passed.
