Three takeaways from frustrating Tottenham loss to West Ham

1. Tottenham currently aren’t good enough for a top four spot

Based on an abundance of evidence, Tottenham aren’t good enough to earn a top four spot. Whether a managerial change would help is unknown, but the current group is clearly not getting the job done.

A number of players aren’t performing at the elite level needed to qualify for the Champions League, while the manager seems unable to right the ship.

A propensity to commit inexcusable personal errors, a tendency to blow leads and now an absurd penchant for falling asleep or starting matches in an apparent coma have become hallmarks of this Jose-led team.

Spurs showed an encouraging fightback in the latter stages of this afternoon’s match, but that show of competitive spirit isn’t nearly enough to satiate a thirsty group of supporters, who cannot sit idly by and watch their side continually self destruct. Something major needs to change or Spurs will fall down the table further, as the Premier League is as unforgiving as it is demanding.
