Defence:

Hugo Lloris — Keeper

Hugo Lloris is bound to start in goal. He enjoyed a solid performance against Wolfsberger on Thursday. A few key saves during the European tie should increase his confidence and, hopefully, diminish the number of personal mistakes.

Ben Davies — Left Back

Spurs’ reliable left back has played pretty much every minute since Regulion got injured. While Davies hasn’t been superb in every match, he has offered Mourinho a somewhat stable force in the team’s rearguard. Davies also had a pretty good match on Thursday, albeit against a distinctly inferior side. Davies, last time away to West Ham in the league, injured his ankle badly. He’ll want to avoid that same fate.

Japhet Tanganga — Right Back

Serge Aurier’s recovery is slightly delayed, so he won’t be available for Sunday’s encounter. It’s more probable, with Matthew Doherty playing a full 90 minutes in Budapest, that Tanganga will get the starting nod. He had some troubling moments against City in his first start for an extended period, but should be warmed up enough now to proficiently defend his side’s backline against the league’s seventh best offensive side.

Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier — Centre Backs

While Toby and Eric both played on Thursday, Jose doesn’t have much choice when selecting the main two down the spine. Joe Rodon has fallen out of starting contention, while Davinson Sanchez endured a shocker against City. However, Sanchez might come back into the team, replacing either Toby or Eric. As unimpressive as Dier has been recently, he’s still preferred to the erratic Colombian.
