Tottenham Forwards

Tottenham played with three forwards although it was often times difficult to decipher who was playing where which was probably how the Baggies felt defensively. Lucas Moura may be infuriating at times, but he is always moving and that movement is contagious and leads to other players moving which is important for Tottenham.

Heung-Min Son – 7

Sonny was finally back on the scoresheet for Tottenham. However, like Harry Kane likely feels he should have had more on the day. Had a decent chance in the first ten minutes and hit the target but was tame with the effort. Absolutely should have scored in the first 30 seconds of the first half one-on-one with the keeper. Made amends for those misses with a big finish just minutes after Kane had given Spurs the lead. Hopefully the goal that gets Son back in tune.

Harry Kane – 8.5

Harry Kane was not perfect on the day as at times he did not maintain the press with the vigor Spurs need and only completed 75% of just 28 passes. However, anyone watching Spurs over the last two weeks can clearly see the difference Kane makes. Like Lamela he becomes an option for the deep players to outlet the ball too. Unlike Lamela he typically gets rid of the ball quickly and keeps the game moving. Further, as a true striker Kane also is a bit better at finding the net and did so to give Spurs the 1-0 lead before the hour and before things got tight. It was his 208th goal as a Spur tying the great Bobby Smith for second all time. Certainly one to remember.

Lucas Moura – 6.5

Lucas Moura provided those things that Steven Bergwijn was earlier in the season but more offensive than defensive. Moura still got back to help a little, but his real impact came on picking p the ball and looking to constantly turn and attack. Technically it was Moura in the #10 role behind Kane, although both he and Lamela were pinched inside and narrow granting Aurier a lot of room to roam on the right. Not great, but provided what was needed most of the match, which is consistent energy from a high energy player. Did perfect with the dribble driving Tottenham forward and then made the right decision going to Son for Spurs second.
