Tottenham Midfield Ratings

Spurs midfield dominated the game throughout. Whether it was Tanguy Ndombele pressing and pressuring or Pierre Højbjerg winning back the ball, or Moussa Sissoko scoring goals, Tottenham dominated in the middle of the park.

Pierre Højbjerg – 7.5

Pierre Højbjerg was back to some of his ball winning best against Brentford. Spurs got the ball back on the second goal based on some pressure that Pierre Højbjerg was a part. His passing was off at times still, but when the bad balls occurred the Dane worked hard to get the ball back. Tied with Serge Aurier with 5 tackles won and intercepted a couple balls too. Took the brunt of a bad, bad foul later in the second half, which led to a VAR review and a red card for Josh DaSilva. Seemed to want to keep playing despite a clear set of cleat gashes on his shin.  Posted on Twitter that he was okay.

Moussa Sissoko – 8

After watching Harry Winks in the Premier League on Saturday, Moussa Sissoko was looking to be aggressive and forward thinking at every opportunity possible. Biggest contribution was the beautiful run and even more beautiful header for the opening goal. Sissoko was good throughout and showed his continued versatility. Sissoko worked to attack Brentford on the dribble and provided a couple crosses after moving to the outside of the midfield for the last 20 minutes to close the match.

Tanguy Ndombele – 8.5

Tanguy Ndombele worked to boss the midfield from the off. More importantly for himself, José Mourinho, and the fans, Ndombele went the full 90 and was still giving that effort Mourinho wants at the end of the match. The ball was sticking to him so well, he made a spinning steal on the ball at one point. Can be a real difference maker for Spurs in the center of the park and against Brentford he was.
