Tottenham Starting Forwards

Unless there are some injuries, or someone really steps forward to grab hold of the third attacking role in the Tottenham set-up the question will always be who starts with Kane and Son. We had projected Erik Lamela was going to start midweek against Fulham and unlike the other rotation players Dele and Joe Rodon, Erik Lamela is going to still get his chance Saturday.

Erik Lamela (RW)

Sometimes the best thing to do is fight fire with fire. Leeds United are an aggressive team and there are few Spurs who are more aggressive on the pitch than Erik Lamela. Lamela is probably more naturally a central player, but he can play on the wing, particularly with Mourinho opting to invert his players. Erik’s aggressiveness is not that of a try hard, but rather of a nuisance and that is the kind of pressure that can lead to turnovers, which Spurs are going to be looking for on Saturday. With the offense in need of a spark, particularly early, look for Lamela to provide it.

Harry Kane (STKR)

Harry Kane is leading the line after again becoming a new dad this past week. It may have been fortuitous for Spurs to be off so Kane could be with Katie throughout the childbirth. After his two daughters were born Kane scored a hattrick and then had a goal and an assist in the next matches. With his new favorite “Son” now part of the Kane clan, hopefully Harry has something big in store.

Heung-Min Son (LW)

Heung-Min Son has fallen sharply from the heights of his early season success. While Son has not been scoring at the rate, he was earlier in the season, teams also do not score against Spurs nearly as much when the South Korean is on the field. Maybe just a coincidence or maybe not as Son brings pace and power to the team that scares the heck out of defenses. With an open game, expect Son to get some looks, hopefully he can capitalize and get back on track.
