Tottenham Midfield Ratings

Harry Winks – 8

As noted at the top of the article, Harry Winks had an outstanding all around game. Winksy even won a couple aerial battles against a rather large team. It was good to see him produce when he needed too and even better to see the assist, which showed a willingness to lump it in there, which Spurs need to do more of. A good night for Harry Winks.

Pierre Højbjerg – 7

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was the most active Tottenham Hotspur plying his trade from box-to-box on the evening. Højbjerg got forward more than he has in the lasts few matches and that was a good thing, most of the time. The Dane’s presence in the middle of the park is a huge lift defensively, but when he is not in that position other teams notice and try to take advantage. Not his best night, but good enough.

Dele Alli – 7

Whereas Harry Winks grabbed his opportunity by the scruff, Dele has a loose grasp on a continued role in the team. There is no doubt Dele started bright and was able to get on the ball early for Tottenham. Alli picked up a couple early calls for Tottenham creating some potential scoring chances. Dele had one good opportunity to score and shot on frame only to be denied by the foot of Andy Lonergan. As the game wore on, he stopped getting the calls and was going down far too easy, losing focus on the match as his attention turned to the referee. Was semi-blamed for the goal and did make a poor decision in transition, but Spurs should have recovered and did not. Should see more time with Lo Celso out and possibly Bale too. Needs to stay focused throughout.
