On a day when Tottenham Hotspur have looked better and were found wanting in some parts of the pitch, Spurs had no standout performers in their XI.

Tottenham Hotspur likely felt quite hard done by the loss at Liverpool midweek. However the lack luster performance of the team on Sunday in the abject 0-2 loss to Leicester City likely left the team feeling quite different. On a day when not one player really played well Spurs were asked lots of questions, but had few answers.

Coach Rating – 5

Normally we start with the players and then add a little rating at the end for José Mourinho. However, on a day when the coach left his team short on the bench and the team looked devoid of ideas, Mourinho gets top billing. The truth is this team was set up to fail from the off in both the starting XI and on the bench.

The starting XI was one without a right wing. Whereas it has been okay to move Steven Bergwijn to the left for Heung-Min Son to help cover defensively. The idea of moving Giovani Lo Celso there so he can be productive was not part of the plan on Sunday.

Starting Lo Celso as one of the attackers and on the right was a complete waste as he is clearly a midfielder and only left footed.  Lo Celso spent most of the first half as the right wing and did absolutely nothing. On top of that Tanguy Ndombele was starting too when neither he nor Lo Celso are known for going 90, without any like-for-like coverage on the bench.  This was just dumb plan against a team with a tough middle.

We still very much believe in José and think he can lead Tottenham to some long overdue silverware, but Sunday was not his, nor his team’s best performance. So how did the players all rate?
