Speaking on ESPN UK, former Tottenham Hotspur Jurgen Klinsmann said that Tottenham would take a point and draw if he were José and Spurs and move on.

According to Jurgen Klinsmann a draw is “not a big deal” at this point in the season, as teams rush from one game to the next. The German believes the title race in the Premier League and in “all the leagues” across Europe is fascinating as teams cannot help but drop some points next to an incredibly busy schedule. And while a draw can be an acceptable result during this hectic time, what you do not want to do is lose.

Demanding Schedule

Klinsmann noted how the demanding schedules across Europe are causing teams to drop points and look at draws differently, not just in the Premier League. Klinsmann said, “that in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich is dropping points and its tough, it’s tough to get through a stretch of midweek games weekend games midweek”.

Klinsmann also pointed out how AC Milan got by this past weekend with a draw at the death. However, the draws are okay according to Klinsmann because teams “need to take the games the way they come and maximize everything you can and here and there you’re gonna lose some points but you gotta go through that stretch of demanding games”.

The good news with all the fixtures coming is that we are “going to know a little bit more” about these teams as they play games up to Christmas and beyond. Ultimately, the schedule makes for several “fascinating” title races in “almost all the European leagues” this season, which Klinsmann called fantastic.

Tottenham Liverpool Do not Want to Lose

As for Tottenham and Liverpool, Klinsmann was asked if Spurs would accept and we should expect a 0-0 draw. Klinsmann did not hesitate, “Yeah I would take the nil-nil yeah if I was José, I would take it yeah”. Whether it is really zero to zero or not, Klinsmann said he expects a “very tight match” because of the tactical ability of the coaches who know how to set up a team to “not give anything away to an opponent”.

Neither team taking any real chances sounds a lot like the Chelsea game a few weeks back and seemed to suit Spurs fine, but there is a big difference between Mo Salah and Timo Werner and sitting pinned in versus Liverpool does not sound good. Instead, as Klinsmann suggests the game will be won and lost in the midfield and maybe one side will get enough chances to win.

Regardless, what neither team wants to do is lose points, but if you cannot get a win, with all the fixtures on the horizon, “get a tie and move on” is Klinsmann suggestion. All that said, we do know José Mourinho plays every game to win, but as much as he lose to win, he sure hates to lose, so expect a close match, just like Klinsmann suggesting.
