Determined Defense, Clinical Attack Highlight Spurs Ratings

Coach and Substitute Ratings
Giovani Lo Celso – 7
Giovanni Lo Celso had only been on the pitch about a minute and had not even touched the ball when he sprinted up to fill the left side of Spurs counterattack. As the defense pinched toward Kane and Son in the middle, the space opened for Lo Celso, who got the ball from Kane and slotted home between Ederson’s legs. Add in some good tackles and a lot of effort and you can see what Lo Celso is getting minutes and why Ndombele must continue to play well.
Lucas Moura – N/A
Lucas Moura came on for Steven Bergwijn for the last 18 minutes of the match. In a move that was as much defensive as offensive, Moura, was able to maintain the pressure and pace Bergwijn had established in his 70+ minutes. Having someone like Moura available off the bench is a great feeling.
Joe Rodon – N/A
Joe Rodon made his second appearance for Tottenham, unfortunately it was because of injury. Rodon played the last 10 minutes and only touched the ball once. Hopefully, Rodon is a ready as Jose thinks he is as the injury to Toby did not look good and someone needs to play with Dier in league.
Jose Mourinho – 9.5
Jose Mourinho and Tottenham came out mostly as expected, but with a few little wrinkles. The use of both Tanguy Ndombele and Steven Bergwijn in multiple roles offensively and defensively kept City reacting to Spurs changing shape. Mourinho’s substitution of Lo Celso was a stroke of genius with the immediate impact goal for the second game running for Spurs. Mourinho seems to be having fun and so do the players, long live the Mourinho fun!
Great stuff from the lads, what did you think?
