Sabitzer at Tottenham, a Decent Fit

Overall, Sabitzer is more than just his numbers. He processes a wicked shot that typically produces incredible movement. Many of his goals have come from distance and have made some good keepers look like Sunday leaguers. Besides the shot, Sabitzer is a worker both on and off the ball, running to pressure and get to where the team needs him to be.

All this said, what would he bring to Spurs, kind of more of what they already have. He plays a bit like a couple of the wingers Spurs already have in Gareth Bale and Son Heung-Min. Like Sonny Sabitzer is good with both of his feet and can strike a ball equally well right or left footed. Like Bale, Sabitzer has good speed and decent size, which he uses to overpower his opposition physically at times.

An excellent set-piece taker and a willing runner offensively, Sabitzer would bring more depth to the team, but it is hard to say where exactly he would start. If Gareth Bale is not going to be with Spurs after this season on loan from Real Madrid, then maybe bringing Sabitzer in now to learn from Bale and pick up the system makes sense.

If Bale is going to stay at Spurs after this season, if you add Sabitzer, suddenly you have a logjam at the wing positions and across the attacking third. Then the question becomes would you rather have Sabitzer than someone else, say Dele Alli or Erik Lamela; well that is a different story, but Sabitzer is in the same kind of class and discussion, which at least makes him worth Spurs seriously checking out, especially if Bale is not back long term at N17.
