Heung-Min Son Wins Premier League Player of the Month
By Aaron Coe
After a torrid start to the Premier League campaign Heung Min Son was rewarded becoming the first Tottenham Hotspur to win player of the month in 2 years.
Scoring four goals and adding two assists over three games should put you in the running and for Tottenham Hotspur attacker Heung-Min Son it was enough to win the EA Sports Player of the Month award for October. It is the third time in his Spurs career Son has won player of the month, having previously won the award in September 2016 and again in April 2017; Son is also the first Spur to win the award since Lucas Moura back in August 2018.
Son was quite deserving of the award adding two goals and an assist in Spurs big win over Manchester United to start the month. The South Korean followed that up with a goal and assist in the draw versus West Ham and then netted the game winner versus Burnley.
To win the award, Son was chosen among a group of finalists, that included our own Harry Kane, as well as Kyle Walker – who scored a screamer for City – and Jack Grealish – who has started the campaign very well himself. Looking back at the month, if Grealish, Kane, or Son won the award, it would not cause any stir, but happy that Sonny took home the little trophy. Hopefully the first of many trophies for Son and Spurs this season.
Of course, those three wins and a draw were not enough to get Jose Mourinho coach of the month as that honor when to Nuno Espirto Santo of Wolves, who went 3-1-0 just like Spurs over the month. Just so Tottenham does not feel hard done, the goal of the month was the wonder strike from Manuel Lanzini that drew Spurs against West Ham. An eventful month for Spurs and hopefully the first of many awards for the lads this season. Congratulations Sonny!
