Tottenham Loanee Raises Eyebrows with EFL Trophy Hat-trick
By Aaron Coe
Shilow Tracey is one of six Tottenham U-23 players out on loan to get first team minutes, experience, and get noticed, well a hat-trick will get you noticed.
The first step is getting minutes and sometimes they can be hard to come by. For Juan Foyth time has come in Europa League. Shilow Tracey has had to settle for his only starts with the Shrewsbury Town coming in the EFL Trophy, but after his performance today, maybe the Tottenham loanee gets more minutes for the League One side.
Tracey scored Shrewsbury’s second goal of the day at 25 minutes giving them a comfortable lead. However, Crewe Alexandra came storming back and scored two before the half and a third near the hour to take a 3-2 lead. Tracey saved the day for Town.
According to the Shropshire Star first Tracey scored on a breakaway. Tracey was played in down the line, held off the defender and scored with a nifty “dinked finish” over the onrushing keeper. The composure to complete the goal and tie the match is a positive sign for Shrewsbury and Tracey both. After bagging his first brace and tying the score, things might have been finished.
However, only about six minutes after tying the match, Tracey was the in the right place at the right time, as he was able to tap in a rebound from a blocked shot and get the third goal and win for Town. It is a big moment for Shilow Tracey who like many players is looking for that chance. Shilow noted he had been “grafting in training” so he would be ready for the opportunity and was “buzzing” from his performance.
One person who did notice was his coach Sam Ricketts who mentioned that Tracey was one of the performances he “was hoping for” and that Shilow Trace produced. Now the question is if that performance Tracey more minutes and opportunities for the young Tottenham loanee.
