Philippe Coutinho

Another attacking player Tottenham have been linked to this summer is Philippe Coutinho. Unlikely? Yes. But if Spurs could make a deal, there’s no doubting what Coutinho would bring to this team.

Coutinho has spent the past season with Bayern Munich on loan from Barcelona, where he’s played 23 games in the Bundesliga, scoring eight goals with six assists. And Coutinho has no shortage of Premier League experience. In 152 Premier League games for Liverpool, he scored 41 goals with 37 assists.

Coutinho is 28 years old and in the prime of his career. Imagine him playing behind Harry Kane with Son Heung-min and either Lucas Moura, Dele Alli, or Steven Bergwijn to the right. It would have to be up there with one of the best attacking groups in the entire Premier League, and would also give Spurs a great chance to find success in the Europa League next season.

It’s a long-shot that Spurs will bring in Coutinho this summer, but he would make a huge impact. But whether it’s a permanent deal or a loan, it’s possible the chance to play with Jose Mourinho and return to the Premier League would make Tottenham a great landing spot for Coutinho. And if Spurs could find a way to make a deal affordable, this would be a dream signing.
