Midfield

Oliver Skipp 4/10

More so due to his manager’s tactics than a poor personal performance, Oliver Skipp didn’t get a sniff in the first half. He was often caught in no man’s land. He and Ndombele were outnumbered consistently, causing them to chase shadows for large portions of the first half.

Tanguy Ndombele 4/10

Like his midfield colleague, Tanguy was set up to fail. When he did gain possession, the Frenchman couldn’t find any outlet options. Mourinho was left with no option but to pull him off at the interval. But it was nowhere near good enough from our recent big money signing.

Japhet Tanganga 5/10

The youngster looked better on the right side of defence, his favoured wing back position. He works his socks off and is committed to every 50/50 ball. He’s definitely a player of the future.

Jan Vertonghen 6/10

Jan tried his best in the first half to penetrate Burnley’s midfield. He was also stable at the back, knowing when to knock it long and when to make a cuter short pass.

Steven Bergwijn 7/10

The Dutchman contributed when he could. He didn’t get on the ball nearly enough, but made positive strides when he did. While he didn’t really get a sniff on goal, Bergwijn can be relied upon to make the right decisions when in possession.
