Defence

Hugo Lloris 9/10

Held his side in the match, making countless important saves. He was spry and acrobatic, showing why he’s one of the best shot stoppers in world football.

Serge Aurier 6/10

Serge was pretty steady and thwarted many Leipzig attacks. He made one good low cross in the second half that was almost deflected home. Otherwise, he had a middling performance, average in most capacities.

Davinson Sanchez 7/10

The Colombian faced heaps of pressure relentlessly for the first 65 minutes. He withstood the pressure well most of the time and had a few erratic moments we’ve become accustomed to. Though it was one of his best performances for some time.

Toby Alderweireld 7/10

Immersed in the trenches, Toby had as good of a match as his Colombian partner. They both held up well under extreme duress. Neither were at fault for Leipzig’s only goal.

Ben Davies 3/10

His lack of match time was evident, as Ben Davies horribly mistimed his challenge on Konrad Laimer, bundling into the Austrian to concede the penalty. It’s a mistake he’ll rue and won’t soon forget. Unfortunately it’s the single move that headlined his evening.
