Defence

Hugo Lloris 5/10

Unsure and too hesitant, both on the goal and the following corner kick, Hugo Lloris wasn’t nearly as dominating as he needs to be on crosses. He made a few good saves but could have been stronger on both goals. Though the second was more Toby’s responsibility.

Toby Alderweireld 6/10

What an event-filled few days for Spurs new father. Toby scored at both ends of the pitch and was then beat for Bjorn Engels‘ headed equalizer. Top class forwards would have been proud of Toby’s sweet swivel finish in the first half, but it was truly a mixed bag for the Belgian. All things considered, Toby did quite well. I’m sure he hasn’t slept much in the past few days.

Davinson Sanchez 6/10

Davinson Sanchez was a bit static on some crosses but made up for it with his speed and athleticism. Not nearly as eventful a match as his partner’s, Davinson will want to take some points from this match and proceed accordingly.

Serge Aurier 5.5/10

Akin to Toby, Serge had an inconsistent match. Starting heavy handed and way too aggressively, Serge was lucky not to have been booked. He had a few woeful touches from the off but played better as time elapsed.

Ben Davies 6/10

Ben Davies was stable on his return to the lineup, a massive plus for Spurs. He was by no means brilliant but didn’t really step a foot wrong. He’ll be annoyed not to have stopped the cross that led to Toby’s own goal, but enjoyed a good return to the first team after such a long layoff.
