Willian Jose probably not coming to Tottenham Hotspur
By Gary Pearson
A last-minute deal to sign Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose is looking more unlikely for Tottenham Hotspur.
The transfer period will be seen as a disappointment if Tottenham aren’t able to land the Brazilian forward. However, getting two players in the last few weeks will still bolster the club’s top four chances.
Sociedad is unwilling to bend on the outcast’s demands, which will further alienate the 28-year-old front man. His relationship with the Spanish club is becoming more untenable with each passing day, but that won’t effect their final decision on his prospective transfer.
While the news is disappointing, Spurs won’t be too aggrieved by the latest happenings. Jose is not Tottenham’s first option. Missing out on Krzystof Piatek, who yesterday signed for Hertha Berlin, will frustrate the club more.
There is late hope for Spurs on another front, with the club confident about negotiations for Gareth Bale. However, that deal would be extremely complicated and most likely won’t happen before the deadline passes in a few hours.
Stay tuned for updates regarding all possible last minute deals. But don’t expect Jose to be putting on a Spurs shirt any time soon.
Whether signing Gedson Fernandes and Steven Bergwijn will be enough to push Spurs to a top four place is still unknown. But at least the club has a bonafide front man now. Let’s hope the Dutchman can come to terms with the Premier League on extremely short notice.
