Defence

Hugo Lloris 7/10

How good it is to have our captain back in the side. Safe last night with the ball at his feet (quite often an area of concern), Lloris was back to his domineering self. Barking orders while going about his business, the Frenchman enjoyed a winning return after four months out with a severely dislocated elbow. He was unlucky not to have saved Pukki’s penalty after getting a strong low touch.

Serge Aurier 7/10

Serge was a steadying force in Tottenham’s back line last evening. Setting up Dele Alli’s opener, Aurier was confident on the ball and defended well. Shockingly, he’s becoming one of the side’s more reliable, consistent players. That’s a rather scary thought.

Jan Vertonghen 6.5/10

Jan was solid. He didn’t make any egregious errors and wasn’t exposed too often Norwich’s intelligent attackers.

Toby Alderweireld 8/10

The best of the bunch, Toby Alderweireld marshalled the back line and did his utmost to stifle Teem Pukki and company. Norwich had their chances but not because of any fragility from the Belgian stalwart. Toby also played a few magnificent long through balls he’s renowned for.

Ryan Sessegnon 2/10

Sorry Ryan, but you were dreadful last night. I hope this woeful performance doesn’t shatter what confidence remains. The teenage left back conceded a penalty in the second half and was completely ineffective throughout. He looked out of place against a rugged, high-tempo Norwich side.
