Midfielders

Christian Eriksen 2/10

One weak, feeble effort from long range. He ran about aimlessly and was the team’s worst player. Not for the first time I might add. Why he starts in games of this importance I’ll never quite understand.

Serge Aurier 7/10

Serge enjoyed had one of his good days today. He delivered a brilliant cross that Lo Celso should have finished in the latter stages and had a strong defensive outing too.

Danny Rose 3/10

His reintroduction to the lineup didn’t go according to plan. Rose coughed up possession repeatedly. So much so that you didn’t expect him to connect on a single pass. In fairness he didn’t have many options, but that doesn’t excuse his gross wastefulness.

Dele Alli 4/10

Too slow in possession, Dele Alli seemed a second or two behind the pace. He needs to have more foresight and make decisions more proactively, especially against world class opposition. His one chance was taken away by a last-gasp van Dijk slide tackle. On that play his last touch was slightly heavy, allowing Virgil the opportunity to win the challenge. He also shied away from a crucial tackle on the edge of the box with Jordan Henderson, which led directly to Liverpool’s only goal. Not brave enough and not good enough from the Englishman.

Harry Winks 5/10

Tried his best to snuff out Liverpool’s midfield, but was fighting an uphill battle. Hesitant in driving forward, Winks is too pre-dispositioned to playing the ball back or sideways. He played quite well defensively, subduing slightly a rampant Liverpool attack.
