Tottenham welcome Bayern Munich to London later today in a pivotal Champions League tie, a match that will test all of the home side’s resolve.

There is finally some good personnel news to report in Spurs’ camp, with all but two players available for selection against the German champions. Only Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, with a hip and hamstring respectively, are unavailable for Tottenham.

Lo Celso and Sessengon aren’t expected back until the end of October.

Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters are participating in full training, but Pochettino will most likely opt for the more experienced Serge Aurier at right back, even after the Ivorian’s ill-disciplined sending off on the weekend against Southampton. He’s the only right back on the squad comfortable with playing on the grandest of European stages. While Walker-Peters is more than capable of performing at the top level, Aurier will be utilized to inject some experience. Hopefully he doesn’t have yet another moment of madness, as it will surely be punished against élite opposition.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen should take their place at the heart of Tottenham’s rearguard, with Davinson Sánchez left on the bench if required. Danny Rose, one of Tottenham’s best players from the win on the weekend, will start at left back.

As last season’s finalists, it’s incumbent upon Spurs to field a more offensive lineup, particularly in the friendly confines of their home stadium. Harry Winks will pull the strings from deep in midfield with Christian Eriksen and Tanguy Ndombele patrolling more advanced positions. Ndombele will drop back when required, supporting Winks in defensive areas.

Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane will retain their starting spots while Dele Alli gets the nod as the third member of the triumvirate. Of course starting Dele comes with its risks. He hasn’t been on top form since coming back from injury and might be left on the bench in favour of either Lucas Moura or Erik Lamela, the latter of whom has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers to start the campaign.

If Pochettino decides to go more defensive, he might opt to give Moussa Sissoko the nod to sure up the back line.
