Tottenham have drawn Bayern Munich, Red Star Belgrade and Olympiacos in Group 2 of the Champions League.

A favourable draw for Spurs sees them travel to Germany, Serbia and Greece in the first round.

After making it to the final of last season’s Champions League, Tottenham will be a target for other sides trying to prove themselves in Europe. Bayern Munich, however, is not a team that has to prove anything. The reigning champions of Germany will prove a stern test for the Lilywhites, who will have to navigate playing at the formidable Allianz Arena.

Olympiacos is a good draw for Spurs. The Greek side qualified for the quarterfinal of the competition in 1989, their best result. While there are no easy tests in the Champions League, Tottenham will be pleased with drawing the Greek side. Olympiacos finished second behind champions PAOK in the 2018-19 Greek Super League.

The final team, Red Star Belgrade, is an interesting draw for Spurs. They will have to travel to a hostile place, where supporters make life extremely difficult for away sides. Tottenham should have enough quality to make it through the group. The big question is whether they’ll take top sport or finish behind the German champions.

Red Star Belgrade have won the Serbian League in consecutive seasons, taking the 2018-19 campaign by 12 points. Tottenham won’t be looking forward to visiting the Serbian capital. Spurs face Olympiacos in Greece on Sept 18 for their opener. Following that Spurs play Munich at home on Oct. 1 before welcoming Red Star on Oct. 22.

The club’s final three matches are as follows: Spurs travel to Serbia on Nov. 6, host Olympiacos on Nov. 26 and cap off the group stage in Munich on Dec. 11. Hopefully their place in the knockout stage is confirmed before suiting up against Munich in Germany on Match Day 6, as we all know how difficult it is to come away with a result from the Allianz Arena.
