5. Moussa Sissoko — Signed August 31, 2016

Another player who was on the verge of leaving Tottenham just a year ago, Moussa Sissoko’s 2018-19 transformation was nothing short of phenomenal.

Had it not been for Son Heung-Min, the Frenchman would have won Tottenham’s player of the season plaudits. Criticized heavily for his first two seasons and completely ostracized by supporters, Sissoko returned from the dead to prove absolutely everyone wrong. Not a person in the world believed Sissoko would influence the heart of midfield to the extent Sissoko did last season.

For anyone who needs a lesson on how to recover in the face of intense adversity and overwhelming odds, Sissoko’s redemption story is the one to reference. It will live in perpetuity, such is the magnificence of his personal achievement. Well done, Moussa.
