6. Victor Wanyama — Signed June 23, 2016

A relationship that started at Southampton, Pochettino and Victor Wanyama developed a close bond on the south coast. Wanyama followed Pochettino to Spurs, and it didn’t take long for the Kenyan to infiltrate the starting team. In his first season with Spurs, in 2016-17, Wanyama played in all but two Premier League matches. Tottenham lost only four matches with the Kenyan patrolling midfield.

Strong, aggressive and indefatigable, Wanyama was a revelation in the heart of midfield. His wonder goal against Liverpool in 2017-18 season was out of the top drawer, it’s importance cannot be overstated.

Unfortunately for both club and player, Wanyama was hit hard by the injury bug. He has only made 31 appearances since the end of the 2016-17 campaign. While uncertain what the future holds, the club has high hopes that his return to full fitness will accompany a return to his glorious form of 2017-18.
